Support for technology is provided by Academic and Scholarly Technology Services (ASTS), which offers a range of services.
Tech Support Inside and Outside the Classroom
AVS provides support for audio-visual equipment in the classroom. It also lends equipment to faculty, such as clickers, projectors, screens, cameras, and microphones. For immediate audio-visual support in your classroom, call 773-834-4499.
ASTS offers other forms of support, too. It curates and provides assistance for using a wide range of digital teaching tools, including Canvas and Chalk. Software consultants are available by appointment to give training in these tools, as well as other software like Photoshop, Google Apps, and SPSS. Walk-in support is provided at the TECHB@R, located in the Joseph Regenstein Library.
In addition, University of Chicago students and faculty have access to thousands of training videos on Lynda.com.
Multimedia Content Development
- Record lectures and other material so that they can be accessed asynchronously or streamed live
- Digitize media, such as slides, photographs, and maps
Enhance media to correct for imperfections or emphasize items of interest—and even create new media, such as 3-dimensional models and virtual spaces
